Training on safe food storage

Within the subcomponent 3.3 Improved household nutrition through household gardening of “Agricultural Productivity Nutrition Improvement Project” for period from July 20 to 23, 2018 training was held for trainers-consultants of Public Foundation “Training, Advisory and Innovation Centre” and Public Foundation “Rural Consulting Service” of Jalal-Abad and Osh oblasts.

This subcomponent predominantly focused on the most vulnerable social groups with the aim of improved nutrition all year round and fortifying diet using own gardens and households.

Therefore, training was held by the international consultant of the project, Judiann McNulty for trainers-consultants in the Kyzyl-Oktyabr village of the Uzgen rayon of Osh oblast and Almaluu village of Kemin rayon of the Chui oblast on topic “Safe food storage”.

During the training participants have gained knowledge of safe storage and methods of food preservation with good practices and safe processing. The international consultant shared with the recommendations on prevention of food spoilage and botulism.

In addition to the theory, the practices on preservation and freezing of vegetables and fruits for the training participants were held. Training participants have prepared preserved compote, salad, pickled cucumbers and tomatoes.
