In early July of this year with the participation of the representatives of the Ministry of Health, the Department of State Sanitary Supervision, the academic community, development partners and other stakeholders was organized the roundtable on topic: “Issues on food security and quality of nutrition” within the Component 3 “Nutrition improvements” of the “Agricultural Productivity and Nutrition Improvement Project” (APNIP), funded by the Global agriculture and food security program in Bishkek.
The purpose of the roundtable was to analyze the situation on the nutrition section of the draft Program on food security and nutrition of the Kyrgyz Republic for 2018-2023.
The participants of the roundtable discussed the issues and priorities, identified further tasks and measures for the implementation of the Program of food security and nutrition of the Kyrgyz Republic for 2018-2023. Activities aimed at improving the use of food, the aim of which is to ensure the right of everyone to a sufficient number of diverse, quality food at all stages of its life cycle and evidence-based information on nutrition and food security to improve knowledge on healthy nutrition and eating behavior, are also reviewed. In addition, the participants reviewed Monitoring indicators framework and evaluating the implementation of the food security and nutrition Program.
