About the activities of the self-help groups of the project
Subcomponent 3.3. aims to work with vulnerable households of target WUAs to improve the quality of nutrition and enrich the diet of families through their own household plots. In the process of social mobilization, self-help groups (SHGs) are created, consisting of residents of project and neighboring villages.
Under the project, since April 2018, 9,000 people have been mobilized in all villages, selected target and nearby WUAs throughout the country, 1,077 self-help groups have been formed in 170 villages. The project provides group members with resource assistance in the form of certified seeds and small-sized equipment, as well as technical support to achieve sustainability in group activities. Members of self-help groups pass training in agrotechnology, thereby gaining knowledge and skills to improve agricultural activities in their household plot in order to ensure quality nutrition and enrich the family’s diet. As a result of the work done in November 2019, the PF ADI mobilized 2,754 participants of the 3 stream, who will receive certified vegetable seeds in the spring of 2020, after the seed procurement procedures.
